The action is crisp timing correct holds all 3 clicks.the 6 inch octogon barrel retains 95 % original thinning blue has that antique glow to it. Notice the edges are sharp and crisp. The cyclinder displays a lovely cylinder scene with over 90% sharp and clear and you can easily see the stage coach holdup scene . The receiver marking are clear as well as all numbers match including the wedge. On the very early which this is the load levers were not marked. See wilson colt book page 273 for details on this. The receiver displays fadded case colors on both side of receiver it looks like dark gray spots. The bore is beautiful
bright shiny lands and grooves are deep and crisp. It does not have the typcal black powder etch. on a scale of 1 to 10 this is a 9. I would think this was not fired very much if at all...... This also has the early V notch with venting. Upon inspection of the cones (nipples) the are very nice and all in tact appear original to this peice.....the walnut grips retain at lest 80% original varnish with some handling marks and abrasions but no cracks or chips . And no it was not used to pound nails and put up hand bills like they so often did in years past ...The brass trigger guard is small type and is plated with 95% original silver plate also notice the screws are in nice shape in for certain the have been turned a time or to but over all it looks great...The serial number 35,3xx denotes this is circa 1852...........Production on all 1849 revovers was started in 1850 so this would be a 2nd year model....its very elusive to find a second year model in this high condition.........this is right at 162 years old and has passed through 5 wars including the civil war . This has the early 2 line New York address..........
