.50 BMG/ 12.7mm Russian Single Shot Bolt Action Receiver as made by Anzio Ironworks Corp.
Description:
In the 1990's, Anzio Ironworks Corp. of St. Petersburg Florida began to produce a bolt action rifle designed for them by the Tula Design Bureau in Tula Russia; the PzB-98. The design is unique having a dual lugged bolt that is suspended between two collars that are attached to the bolt guide sleeve. This sleeve slides on cut rails along both inner sides of the ejection port. The effect is that there is minimum friction between the bolt and the receiver. The bolt guide sleeve houses the safety which positively locks the striker and the bolt to the receiver. Also, it functions as a dust cover. The forward collar forms dual opposing cocking cams for smooth cocking of the rather serious firing pin spring that it used.
There are two generous gas escape holes found on the receiver and guide sleeve adjacent from each side of the bolt head. The receiver is tapped for mounting a scope and a special shoulder is cut into the top of the receiver for a scope mount base recoil lug so that the screws don't have to take all of the abuse.
The bolt head is designed in such a way that the extractor and plunger ejector can be easily removed for cleaning without tools (those Russians!). The PzB-98 receiver also uses an enormous Remington style recoil lug to prevent any set-back. The PzB-98 utilized a large proportioned Mauser military trigger that served as the bolt release (drop-in aftermarket adjustable triggers may be used). The receiver is threaded to accept Browning M2 barrels.
Bolts and bolt guide sleeves were originally numbered to the receivers and some of the original run of bolts were rejected due to the firing pin holes not meeting spec. The matching receivers were put aside. These receivers have been held in storage until now.
I am offering one of these receivers for sale. It is a completed and serial numbered receiver made out of tough ETD 150. These rifles were proof tested at above 90,000 psi.
This is a perfect receiver to build a project rifle out of. You can design your own bolt around it or reproduce the original proven bolt. Hand drawings of the bolt and components are available and one rejected bolt will be supplied with the receiver for patterning purposes as well as one bolt guide sleeve, recoil lug, striker sleeve and safety lever. This is a finished .50 BMG receiver for less than the cost of the steel.
Whether you want to build a big boom stick now or put a legal receiver away for a dark day, this is the piece for you.
