A fine and rare original beaded bag from the Mandan Sioux Minnesota tribe from around 1900. This brain tanned bag remains in pristine condition and has some very desirable beads including Russian blues and faceted trade beads. Both sides of the bag were done and the original drawstrings remain. The brain tanned deer skin leather is as soft and supple as the day it was made. Lined with the finest trade silk of the period. A finer and more original Sioux beaded bag would be hard to obtain. This bag was given as a gift to a doctor in return for his medical services to members of the tribe. Direct family Provenance will be given to the buyer. A museum quality Sioux beaded bag from the early reservation period for the advanced Plains Indian collector.
