Description: WW1 U.S. MODEL 1917 1914 OR TRENCH GUN REMINGTON BAYONET FOR P14 OR P17 RIFLE WITH EARLY 1ST VARIATION SCABBARD. Bayonet is 21 3/4" out of scabbard with all original blue/black finish. Stopped fuller and edge never re sharpened. Crisp screaming eagle over "24" and flaming bomb over "U.S.". Reverse ricasso with "1918" over "remington in circle" indicative of British contract. Original wood panels retained by original screws and washers(slotted) and never been taken down. Early oil hole in pommel. "298" in large stamp struck. Some surface salt and peppering not deep. Early variation leather scabbard with early type stud held folded over leather frog with "Jewell/1917"(excellent stitching). Rounded edges correct for throat and drag. Green paint original over leather with some slight crazing and small chunk missing from leather at throat. Excellent eaxmple of early 1913/17 or Trench shotgun bayonet. SOLD |
