GLEN MARSHALL MODEL # A.F.F.S. SECOND CAMP KNIFE EVER PRODUCED-APRIL 1997-A "TRUE" FUNCTIONAL KNIFE OFFERING AMAZING PERFORMANCE!
Description:
Glen Marshall Model # A.F.F.S. was designed by Raul Hernandez of San Antonio, Texas while working for the U.S.A.F. on special assignment in Alaska. Its 8-3/8-inch blade is made from D2 steel of very heavy construction and is 1-7/8-inch wide. This is the second model made by Glen in April 1997 , (The original prototype was featured in a two-part magazine article that appeared in the October and December 1997 issues of Knives Illustrated ( I will give Part I with Glen's review if someone buys the knife). The tip of the blade sweeps up so that the main grinding line is above the knife's center line, as it is a Bowie type model Blade was double-tempered and heat-treated to Rc 59 to give more ducility and impact-resistance, while its blade is hollow ground. The contoured black micarta handle gives extreme comfort and control, no pain or discomfort in the hand during heavy chopping or uses and getting blisters in your hand. The full spine has fancy file work, while the top portion of exposed tang shows intricate designs on it. This knife came in second place during the "Torture" tests and evaluation, right behind Bill's Hurt supernatural cutting knife, The handling characteristics found on the Bill Hurt model and Glen's knife are unreal-don't be fooled by the handle's design and shape-it's one of the very best I've ever seen and tested on a "true" functional knife. This model will be with you at the finsih line. Its construction idsflawless. It's a "super-duper" real knife that can be put to all sort of chores at the campsite. The leather scabbard is hand-tooled basket-weave for decoration but fully functional and made to whistand heavy carrying. Note: This most wonderful gentleman is now deceased and missed by family, friends, and the knife industry.
