U.S. Socket Bayonet Model 1835/40
Description: This bayonet is 20.5 inches long with 17 3/4 inch blade. Socket is 2 5/8 inch with .848 inside diameter and .967 outside diameter. blade is 7/8 inch wide with 1 3/4 inch shank. Blade is marked "US" and socket ring has an unusual taper and stud design. This is the first US bayonet to have a lock ring and this fit the model 1835, 1840 and 1842 muskets. bayonet is bright with scattered staining and scattered areas of light pitting.
