Ladies Hat - Antique Stetson Hat
Description: Old vintage Ladies stetson hat. Has a two cord hat band. The Leather sweat band is marked No. 1 Quality John B Stetson on a gold stamped shield and the store name stamped in gold, MISSOULA Mercantile Co. Missoula, Mont.. No tears. Size 6 3/4 is on a label under the sweat band. It comes with a leather stampede string. The sweat band has the name "Mary Ogle" punched in it. According to my research Mary may have been a Lakota girl named Tasunke Hin Hotewin (Mary) who married William Hall Ogle a young rancher from England. The Ogles raised a large family on a horse ranch at Wood Mountain. Many skills of the Lakota buffalo culture were useful on a horse ranch. The finish crown height as it is styled is 4 in. tall and the brim is 3 1/2 in. with a trim stitched under the brim. The hatband is 5/8 in. wide. Condition is very good with very no cracking in the leather sweat band. Has a few moth bite, but does not affect the appearance. PAYMENT Cash, postal money order, cashiers check, personal & business checks. May order at riverjucntion on-line with credit card. SOLD |
