"Colt Single Action Army Sherriff’s Model .45 Long Colt (C13241)
Description:
"Colt Single Action Army Sherriff’s Model .45 long Colt. Made in 1882 in 45LC. This is a first shipment gun! There were two orders shipped on December 27th, 1888. Ten guns were 3 ½" barrels and then had 4" barrels. There is no original finish remaining and the metal has a gray patina with light pitting throughout. Markings are all visible. Action works well. Grips have a nice mellow patina. Small repair on the left hand side at the bottom front portion. This is a very early sheriff’s model from the first shipment. This gun comes with a factory letter confirming the configuration and this gun was shipped to Hibbard Spencer and Bartlett in Chicago, IL. This gun also comes with a letter from Colt collector and researcher Wynn Paul dated from 2000. He had apparently conducted a survey of early sheriff’s models and was sharing his findings with the participating collectors. Very hard to find gun!
