Colt Single Action Army .32 W.C.F. – UNTOUCHED
Description: Colt Single Action Army .32 W.C.F. Revolver UNTOUCHED FACTORY 90% CONDITION, 1903 General Specs: Colt, Year 1903, .32 WCF, Revolver Serial Number: 249268 This is an original pre-WWI First Generation Colt Single Action Army (SAA) Revolver in a .32 W.C.F. caliber (.32-20). The Colt Peacemaker Model 1873 was the mainstay of the Frontier. This Colt, sn249268 shipped in 1903, is in superb factory original condition, untouched by the restorer’s hands, still retaining 97% strong factory case color, about 85% nice dark factory blue (showing some natural holster wear, but no rust, pits, or remnants of such), a desirable 7 ½” barrel with excellent sharp rifling, clear sharp lettering and stampings, excellent original screws, hard rubber grips original and serial numbered to the gun with just light wear to the checkering, all matching serial numbers…just a delightful, honest example of a fine Colt from the turn of the century. A factory letter documenting the gun is included in the photos and will accompany the gun upon sale. The .32-20 was only 8% of the total production of Colt SAA revolvers, so represents a rather rare caliber. It is also a caliber that interchanged with the Winchester 1892 rifle so that a cowboy could have one batch of cartridges for both rifle and handgun. The ammunition is still available and a recent gun writer dubbed the .32-20 the first “MAGNUM” .32 caliber cartridge, as it develops impressive speed and ballistics for a smaller caliber SAA. What a fun gun this would be to shoot some tin cans or jack rabbits with. Just imagine where this gun has been and the stories it could tell! The gun was shipped to San Francisco, California in the days there were still cowboys and drifters gambling in the saloon and gunfighting in the streets. It was likely ordered by a rancher or picked up at the General Store to carry while tending cattle and riding the range. The mechanics of the gun are excellent, with the timing of the action perfect and no play in the cylinder when cocked. If case color remaining is the measure of the gun, as some people say, this is a very high condition gun indeed. I state 90% overall with no excuses. Thanks for looking!
