RARE Antique ENGRAVED BACON .32 Single Shot PISTOL
Description: RARE Antique ENGRAVED BACON .32 Single Shot PISTOL Civil War-era Conceal & Carry Pistol in .32 Rimfire Here we present an antique Engraved Bacon Mfg. Co. .32 Single Shot Pistol, made circa 1864 in Norwich, Connecticut. Only about 800 are thought to have been made in this variant, with this recoil shield profile and engraved frame. It chambered a single shot of .32 Rimfire Short, and loads via a side-swiveling barrel. This would have been intended for self-defense in the mid-19th Century. The barrel markings are very tiny and read “BACON MFG. CO. NORWICH CONN.” Thomas K. Bacon was the founder of the company and was also involved with the Manhattan Fire Arms Co. as the superintendent. He also had business dealings with Ethan Allen and Allen & Thurber. When Manhattan moved their operation away from Norwich, Bacon left the company to stay behind and work on his own firearms manufacturing company. Part of Bacon’s contract with Manhattan included a “no-compete” clause that he would have been in violation of had the heads of Manhattan had bothered to sign the agreement. Nevertheless, they still took him to court with no official judgement recorded. Bacon’s arms were popular on the commercial market and many made their way onto Civil War battlefields upon being privately purchased by soldiers. The overall condition is fine. This pistol has been very nicely refurbished. The blue finish on the barrel is 99%. The nickel finish on the frame is 95%. The markings and engraving are clear. The serial numbers match. The grips are in very nice shape. The bore is sharp and clean. The action is excellent. Here is a rare little Bacon Single Shot Pistol! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4-7/8 inches. Caliber: .32 Rimfire Short Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $750 #5482 SOLD Antique: Yes |
