COLT M1911 .45 ACP US ARMY 1918
Description: Colt M1911 ARMY Cal. .45 ACP Made 1918 S/N 267928 A beautiful US Army marked 99% condition World War One Colt .45 semi-automatic pistol. Expertly refinished. This extraordinary WW I M1911 pistol looks “original”, but I had it inspected by several M1911 experts who reluctantly concluded that it is a very high quality refinish. One expert was of the opinion that the work was done long ago by the sort of craftsman who is, sadly, no longer around. Another opined that there are “now only two men in the country” who could do such a fine refinish job. (He also opined that there was the risk that the buyer of this pistol could easily sell the gun as “original” ... for well over $5,000.) So ... I am selling the gun (as part of my “old age” Collection Disposal) as a superb refinish: a really unusual and handsome example of the WW I Army issue Colt .45 pistol. My selling price reflects this fact. Please inspect the photos carefully: many (the “lighter” images) show the pistol carefully solvent cleaned to remove all external lubricants; the “darker” images show the gun with a very light coating of oil. The face of the bolt show no signs of cartridge case wear ... it is the dark original finish. There are NO scratches, “dings” or other signs of wear anywhere on the pistol. The walnut WW I era “Diamond” grips are perfect, with the correct number of “lines” on the grips. No chips in the wood, no signs of wear. The wood grain is visible in the “Diamonds.” Bore is bright with a hint of frost. Comes with the correct two-tone unmarked (correct) Colt magazine. Has the correct lanyard “eye” on the rear of the butt, just behind the magazine. Has all correct 1918 parts, inspector cartouche, etc. All markings are sharp and clear. Serial Number on the right side of the frame. The “Rampant Colt” trademark is on the left side of the slide above the safety. “United States Property” on the left side of the frame. Correct patent dates and “Colt’s PT. FA Co. Hartford CT USA” on the left side of the slide. “Model of 1911 US Army” on right side of the slide. Serial number on the right side of the frame above and just to the left of the trigger. The Inspector’s cartouche (Lt. Col. John M. Gilbert) is on the left side of the frame, just behind the trigger. The gun is very tight, “as issued” - no rattles whatever - and has a very strong spring. Functions perfectly. All screws are perfect. Comes with book: “Collector’s Guide to Colt .45 Service Pistols, Models of 1911 and 1911A1.” Additional photos on request. C&R okay, or ships to your FFL holder. Three day inspection: buyer pays insured shipping if returned (in exact same condition as when I shipped). Shipping cost $35. Payment: Money Order or Cashiers check preferred. Will take PayPal. Personal check okay, but buyer must wait two weeks for check to clear before I ship. Price: $1,900 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: COLT Model: M1911 Caliber Info: .454 ACP |
