U.S. Dragoon Antique Henry Aston Model 1842 Percussion Pistol
Description: Antique U.S. Henry Aston Model 1842 Percussion Pistol U.S. Dragoon Weapon Dated “1850” Here we present an antique U.S. H.Aston Model 1842 Percussion Pistol, made from 1845 to 1852 in Middletown, Connecticut by Henry Aston and Ira N. Johnson. The Model 1842 saw service during a time of great change and increasing tension, as well as firearms innovation. The Mexican-American War, the numerous conflicts with Native Americans, annexing of new territory, the rising blood-pressure over slavery, and a quick 36% population increase that all culminated in the blood-letting of the American Civil War. This was the first official percussion pistol to be adopted by the U.S. and simultaneously the last large smooth bore single shot pistol. By 1845 it was the primary issued weapon to the First and Second Regiment of Dragoons, replacing many of their Model 1836 flintlocks, just in time for the Mexican-American War. This specimen is in very good condition. Both military inspector cartouches are still clear and are “GW” for George Wells and “WAT” for Captain William A. Thornton. These pistols saw hard use in the Mexican-American War, the Indian Wars and even the American Civil War. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is round and 8.5 inches in length. 14.5 inches overall length. Caliber: .54 percussion Bore is in good condition. The firing mechanism is excellent. Overall condition as seen in photos. Here is a great example of a U.S. Dragoon pistol with lots of history, including the Mexican-American War and the Seminole Wars. It would go very well with a Model 1833 Dragoon Saber. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2500 #21549 SOLD Antique: Yes |
