Brooks of London Flintlock Belt Pistols - CASED PAIR, HIGH CONDITION, ANTIQUE!
Description: Brooks of London Flintlock Belt Pistols CASED PAIR, HIGH CONDITION General Specs: Brooks of London, Year late 1700's, .65 ball, Pistols Serial Number: N/A Look for flintlock pistols on the internet and there are plenty to be found. Some are common, and some are very special. Those made at the end of the 1700's and early 1800's in London England are often more than just the utilitarian firearms we see on the internet. Some are finely crafted by "BEST" gunmakers with fine walnut stocks, fine hand engraving, and attention to detail that you would see on the finest shotguns or rifles made for the gentry. This pair of cased pistols by BROOKS OF LONDON are just such a set of fine guns. This matched pair of .65 caliber pistols are in extremely fine factory original condition, with over 90% case color, about 50% fine damascus pattern, smooth bore with light patina, and beautiful English walnut stocks finely shaped and checkered 32lpi with flat top checkering. The locks are finely tuned with a half cock safety, near perfect screws, all springs strong and intact. The trigger guard charcoal blue is over 90% and original from the time these guns were made and the engraving is clear and sharp. There is not any pitting anywhere on one gun, and only one small area of very light pitting behind the frizzen on the second gun. There is a silver inlay at the base of the barrel on both guns. These guns are in exceptional original condition and are fully functional and ready to take a charge and fire a .65 caliber ball to a destination. Housed in their original Mahogany case that is in superb condition for its 200 year plus age, with a Dixon and Sons powder measure, proper ball mold, and an ebony cleaning rod, this is an amazing set of pistols. There are no cracks or flaws in the full length stocks. There is some wear to the interior of the case, but that is to be expected. What a set of LONDON made pistols for your gun room. An exceptional value and in a condition not often seen. Study these photos and then realize it will be a very long time before you see this kind of condition in such a fine set of guns.
