Description: This is an exceptionally nice example of the tiny French police pistol - probably the smallest regulation flintlock pistol ever issued by anyone at 10" overall length. It is dated Year "13 E" (1804) on the barrel flat and the tang is marked with the model "M an 9". The lock is marked "Maubeuge Manufre Nle" indicating pre-Empire construction. The wood is marked "RF" for "Republique Francaise" and with some other inspector letters. The wood has repairs and has been refinished but displays very well. There are long cracks on both sides of the butt and one under the ramrod bore as shown, but they are not all the way through and the wood is stable, with the butt held together by the screws. You will have to go some to find a better example than this one. Will trade up or down for French Napoleonic weapons, especially sabers marked Klingenthal or Coulaux.
