Description: PAIR GEORGE III FLINTLOCK BOXLOCK TURN-BARREL POCKET PISTOLS SIGNED W. HOWELL CA. 1810. 6” o/a with 1 ½” round barrels with Birmingham proofs on the underside. Box lock engraved “W. HOWELL” in a stand of flags and on the left side and a “UNION JACK” in a stand of flags on the right. Retractable triggers and sliding hammer safeties. Fine quality floral ‘LEAF” pattern engraving at the muzzles. Finely checkered bag shaped walnut grips with silver oval escutcheons (one missing-easily replaced). Fine condition with crisp metal and perfect engraving. Checkering on grip shows almost no wear. Perfect working order and fine bores. William Howell worked at 2 Aston Rd. Birmingham from 1807-33.
