Antique A.H. Waters U.S. Model 1836 Percussion Pistol
Description: Antique A.H. Waters U.S. Model 1836 Percussion Pistol Mexican-American and American Civil War Here we present an antique A.H. Waters U.S. Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol, made in 1837 in Milbury, Massachusetts. There were actually two manufacturers of these guns: Asa Waters and Robert Johnson. Combined, the production totals 41,000 guns. This was the last U.S. martial pistol to use the flintlock system, and many consider this the best of all U.S. flint guns due to its craftsmanship and aesthetic appeal. The gun is historically significant as this was the primary issue pistol during the Texas Revolution, Mexican American War, and was even significantly used during the American Civil War, in the percussion converted format. Many of these were lost to attrition during so many conflicts and many were converted for use by North & South during the Civil War. This example is one of 23,000 made by Asa Waters and is marked “A. WATERS/MILBURY. MS.” The lock is also dated “1837”, the year that it was made. The left side of the stock bears two good inspector cartouches. The left side of the barrel is marked “U.S./J.H./P”. The overall condition is good. The metal parts bear a light gray patina. The markings are clear. The walnut stock is in good shape showing honest handling and wear. The top part of the vise that holds the flint is absent. The ramrod channel has been widened out with use so that retention of the ramrod is a bit loose. The bore is dark and smooth. The action is strong. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8-1/2 inches. Caliber: .54 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $825 #6212 SOLD Antique: Yes |
