NICE Antique Asa Waters US Model 1836 Pistol
Description: NICE Antique Asa Waters US Model 1836 Pistol Mexican-American and American Civil War Here we present an antique A.H. Waters U.S. Model 1836 Percussion Conversion Pistol, made in 1842. There were actually two manufacturers of these guns: Asa Waters and Robert Johnson. Combined, the production totals 41,000 guns. This was the last U.S. martial pistol to use the flintlock system, and many consider this the best of all U.S. flint guns due to its craftsmanship and aesthetic appeal. The gun is historically significant as this was the primary issue pistol during the Texas Revolution, Mexican American War, and was even significantly used during the American Civil War, in the percussion converted format. This example is one of 23,000 made by Asa Waters and is marked as such. The lock is dated “1842”, the year that it was made. Many of these were lost to attrition during so many conflicts and many were converted for use by the North & South during the Civil War. There are two inspector’s marks on this pistol, “NWP” representing Nahum W. Patch and “WAT” representing Captain William Anderson Thornton. The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces are bright. The markings are clear and legible. The bore is bright. The walnut stock is smooth and solid. The action is excellent. Here is a gorgeous example of a U.S. horse pistol! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8-1/2 inches. Caliber: .54 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1650 #6209 SOLD Antique: Yes |
