A CASED Smith & Wesson ANTIQUE revolver- Model No. 1 & 1/2 1st issue. 32 caliber rimfire, 3 & 1/2 inch octogon barrel. 5 shot bottom break, unfluted cylinder . The hinge is tight. The action works properly, the cylinder revolves nicely. The barrel is marked " Smith & Wesson, Springfield, Mass.,Patented April 3, 1855, & July 5, 1859". This model was made between 1865 and 1868. 26,300 were made. This one bears serial # 14493. The metal was blued. About 30% blue remains on the barrel and frame, and about 60% on the cylinder.There is some light pitting on the right side of the frame above the trigger. The rosewood grips are nicely grained and in very good condition with just a few scratches on the left grip. The overall condition should rate NRA "FINE".
The walnut (?) case is in excellent condition with very few marks, no cracks,splits, gouges or wood loss. There is a key for the lock. The lock turns with the key but it does not lock. The red lining is also in good condition. The bottom part shows some wear while the lid lining is excellent. There are no bad fabric areas and no tears. Included are 5 old cartridges showing their age and a combination screwdriver/cleaning rod tool.
This is an antique so no FFL is required. It may be sent directly to a new proud collector.
