Ruger ~ Standard Red Eagle ~ .22 LR`
Description:
Built in 1950, this pistol is a type IV Red Eagle Standard. Also known as a transitional model, this pistol is unusual in that it incorporates the transitional features of the the rounded ejection port and the small square rear sight. To cut production costs, the rear sight notch was widened on all models to accommodate the target sight of the Mark 1 and the larger fixed sight of the Standard pistol. This was done as a cost saving measure. When Alexander Sturm passed away in 1952, the Red Eagle designation was changed to the Black Eagle on later models. The Red Eagle Standard and the Mark 1 pistols are very desirable on the collector market.
