RARE Civil War Antique French Perrin 1859 Double Action Revolver with Low Serial
Description: Antique French Perrin Model 1859 Double Action Revolver Rare, Imported for Civil War, Low Serial Number Here we present an antique Perrin Double Action Revolver, made circa 1859 in Paris, France by L. Perrin & Cie. These are among the rarest of Civil War revolvers. The only known order was by the U.S. government for 1000 Perrins, of which only 550 are known to have been delivered by arms dealer Alexis Godillot. It is surmised that the Confederacy might have also purchased some of these, but no records remain. In addition to use during the American Civil War, France used these during the Franco-Prussian War of the early 1870s. These revolvers seemed to have specifically designed for military use, but were likely also sold to civilians. The Perrin utilized a unique, thick-rimmed, brass or copper, centerfire cartridge. The loading gate was thin, but sufficient on the right side of the gun. It was an early double action only revolver. The cartridge ejector pin acts as the cylinder axis pin and holds a rotating lug in place that would the cylinder to be removed. Those few who have gathered enough specimens to study have said that no two appear to be just alike, though they are very well made. This example is in very good overall condition. It is marked “Perrin & Cie Bte” and “Paris”. The original finish is 90% intact. The wood grip is in very good condition, with some light handling marks. The bore is fine. The action is excellent. Serial numbers match and are low at “220”. This revolver may look unwieldly, but it is actually quite comfortable. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. One other example found for $6000! Don’t miss out on a great and historical secondary U.S. martial handgun for less than half of the price. Barrel is 6 inches in length. Caliber: 12mm centerfire Bore is in very good condition and the revolver is in fantastic working order. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2500 #21574 SOLD Antique: Yes |
