Colt Richards-Mason Conversion
Description:
The last of the so called conversions because they utilized some left over parts from the civil war 1860 Model Colt, these guns were actually the first of the metallic cartridge handguns made by Colt in thier own serial number range. They fired the new .44 centerfire ammunition, and they were actually being made at the factory at the same time as the 1873 Peacemaker, the 71-72 Open Top, and the 1st and 2nd model Richards Conversions. This gun was finished in blue and color hardening and fitted with 1 piece ivory grips. All numbers match and the cylinder still shows a faint naval battle scene. It is tight and in perfect working order. This Colt comes accompanied by a period double loop holster and cartridge belt. A very attractive gun and rig, this outfit has probably witnessed a lot of history!
