Colt 1851 Navy Squareback Revolver, All Matching Semi-Relic
Description:
This is a very early Colt Model 1851 Navy Squareback in the 2200 range. This is a real California Gold Rush era Colt as it was made in 1850; the first year of production for the Model 1851. As you will see in the pictures, its in rough semi-relic condition with lots of pitting. It's not pretty but its cheap! This Colt looks as though it was lost for many years before someone found it somewhere out in the wilderness and I believe it may have been loaded (it has since had the balls and powder removed). In that sense, its nice for a relic as it still has its original walnut grips intact, the serial numbers are all legible and matching, Colt address and Colt Patent are partially legible, AND it still works! Yes, it's tired but it still cocks, locks, and indexes! Half cock even works! Grips are weathered but solid with no major cracks or chips missing. There are even some traces of original silver plating remaining in protected areas of the brass trigger guard and backstrap. Would make a great display item, a filler for that missing 1851 Squareback in your Colt collection, or a fun winter project for a snowed-in gunsmith!
