EXCEPTIONAL & RARE Connecticut BULLDOG 44 Deringer
Description: EXCEPTIONAL & RARE Connecticut BULLDOG 44 Deringer NO Better Conditioned Example Found, ONLY 7,400 Made! Here we present an antique Connecticut Arms & Manufacturing Company Single Shot “Bulldog” Deringer Pistol, made circa 1868 in Naubuc, Connecticut. Only about 7,400 were made. The Hammond brothers, Henry and Lewis, began their venture during the American Civil War in 1863. They tried for several years before they were granted a patent for this same breech-loading design found on this pistol, but they also made a longarm that was similar in function. By the time their patent and production were under way, the Civil War had reached its end and a glut of firearms on the market stymied many companies. As a result, production numbers of this pistol were quite small and these are quite unique and desirable today. Their design for this pistol was quite simple and very stout, weighing a hefty 24 ounces in a small package. It was chambered for the .44 rimfire cartridge and was loaded by pressing the knurled plunger on top and pivoting the breech block to the left. This example is in exceptional condition. The highly polished blued finish on the barrel is 98% present. The edges of the octagonal barrel are still crisp. The breech block and frame show 90% of the vivid case colors. The markings are clear. The hard rubber grips are fine. The bore is excellent, clean and shiny. The action works perfectly. This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4 inches in length. Caliber: .44 (rimfire) Bore and the firing mechanism are excellent. Overall condition as seen in photos. Here is another rare and magnificent gun presented to you by Ancestry Guns. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2500 #21740 SOLD Antique: Yes |
