1968 High Standard Model 106 Military Supermatic Trophy .22LR Pistol Excellent!
SOLD
Description: This High Standard Model 106 Military series pistol was designed to provide the same grip angle and feel as the Colt Model 1911 except in a .22 target pistol. They were produced from 1965 to 1968, and the 106 Military series was offered in 5 different models: Supermatic Tournament, Supermatic Citation, Supermatic Trophy, and 2 "Olympic" models. The Tournament, Citation, and Trophy were all in .22 Long Rifle and the Olympics were .22 Short. The base model entry level pistol was the Tournament, the mid range model was the Citation, and the Trophy was the top of the line model loaded with features. This particular pistol offered here is a Trophy model. It is serial number 1902213, making it's date of manufacture sometime in 1968. It has a 5.5 inch bull barrel, adjustable trigger stop and pull, stippled front and rear grip straps, and a gold plated trigger and safety. It has a factory high polish blue finish that rates 98%+, with no signs of wear or carry. There is one tiny spot on the top edge of the right side of the slide that had some rust on it at some point that has since been removed. You can see this in the pictures. This High Standard 106 Military Supermatic Trophy is beautiful. The front and rear stippled grip straps show no wear, nor do the American Walnut checkered grip panels. The grips are free from cracks or repairs, and the checkering is still clean and crisp with no soiling. The gold plated safety lever is in excellent shape, but the gold plating is coming off the trigger in several places due to poor adhesion rather than wear from use. The magazine release is case colored, and retains 99% plus of the beautiful case colors. The bore in this pistol is pristine; bright with strong rifling and no signs of pitting or erosion. The exterior of the barrel shows no evidence of the optional barrel weights or a muzzle brake ever having been attached. This pistol has the adjustable rear target sights mounted on the bridge over the slide. All of the sight adjustments work perfectly. The slide to frame fitment is perfect, and the slide works smoothly with no rough spots when cycling it. Everything on this pistol works 100% like the day it left the High Standard factory. If you have been looking for a vintage high-end .22 target pistol, this American made High Standard Supermatic Trophy is about as good as it gets. It would be extremely difficult to upgrade in condition from this example.
