Jap. Army Mauser 1910. Cal. .32acp, Ser 4914XX Rig.
Description: Inv. 6355 Jap. Army Mauser 1910. Cal. .32acp, Ser 4914XX Rig. It is not generally known that Japanese officer were required to purchase their own side arms. The most famous of course is the Baby Nambu. However only 5000 or so of these were known to have been made. Officers who could not afford the high priced Nambu were authorized to purchase whatever side arm they could afford. Most often it was a European semi auto. The very few I have seen in the past were the 1910 Browning and 1903 Colt .32.. This is the first Japanese Army marked Mauser complete with the proper holster that has come into shop. Like all authentic Japanese officer's pistol, it is stamped with at least two Kanji characters for the words "Japanese Army" then a military serial number. You will see this marking on the right side of the slide. The gun has about 94-95% of the original high polish blue. The only blue loss seems to from some sharp edge and muzzle silvering. The frame of the gun does have some unusual coloring which make the author think the frame was case colored at some point. There are no pits, scratches, rust, or rub marks which indicate the gun was very carefully treated. Further, the front grip strap and trigger show no signs of any graying. The slide is a perfectly smooth blue, just showing some edge silvering. All numbers match. The wooden checkered wrap around grips like the rest of the gun show no wear. No splits, chips or even flattened points. The bolt face, slide rails and feed ramp show little if any use. The barrel like the rest of the is super. The bore is laser bright, with samurai sword sharp rifling. Not a touch of frost anywhere. Definitely some high-ranking officer's holster Queen. Now an added treat, and a first time for me. An Authentic Japanese Army Star marked holster with some illegible Kanji characters inscribed inside. The condition is only fair as it appears to have been carried extensively and the mag pouch is worn thru on the leading edge. This is not uncommon on holsters that have spent time in a vehicle. At some point owner replaced the spare magazine with a wooden block which appears to have been there for a very long time. What a rig and what a story it could tell. An awesome find for the serious WWII arms collector. The rig comes with a .page from a book on Japanese officers holsters. with this exact holster shown in the lower left......$2995.
