“1943” Dated Rig GERMAN Langenhan Pistol & Holster
Description: “1943” Dated Rig GERMAN Langenhan Pistol & Holster SCARCE WWI-Issued Handgun in WWII Dated Holster! Here we present a Langenhan “Open Model” Pistol, made in Germany during World War I, circa 1915. Langenhan Gewehre was a family gun making business with a pedigree tracing back to 1842. When World War I began, it was all hands on deck to provide small arms to the military. The design resembled the FN Model 1900, had an 8+1 capacity for .32 ACP, and had a very low bore axis with the barrel being on the bottom of the slide. In all, it is said that about 50,000 were made, and all were issued to the Imperial German Army. All known examples have been found with the “Crown/D” military acceptance mark on the left side of the frame, like this one. After the Great War, they continued to be utilized by military and police, especially as they met the criteria of being sub-9mm in caliber stipulated by the Treaty of Versailles. This example was obviously well-cared for, and seems to have been used all the way through World War II. The holster that accompanies it is marked “joa/1943/eagle perched on swastika/WaA47”. The front of the holster appears to bear a name, part of which is legible. This pistol is likely a G.I. bring back from WWII. If only this historical relic could speak. It is of note that these pistols have a reputation, earned or not, for being dangerous to shoot. This is due to the screw holding the breech block being able to unthread itself over time, which may put the shooter at risk for the block to hit the shooter in the face. That seems a bit unlikely due to the length and threading of the screw, which takes quite a bit of turning to get out. The problem is likely mitigated entirely by making sure the screw is always tight. With that being said, shoot with caution and enjoy the pistol for what it is. This specimen is in fine condition. The original blue finish is 70%. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The grips are in very good condition. The bore is clearly rifled and clean. The action is strong. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Nothing like this rig found worldwide! Barrel is 4-1/8 inches in length. Caliber: .32 ACP (7.65x17mm Browning) The bore is in fine condition and the action is strong. Overall condition as seen in photos. Here is a fine example of a scarce pistol with a service life spanning both World Wars! Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1000 #21943 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
