Original S&W Model 3 Schofield Second Model
Description:
Smith & Wesson Model 3 Schofield, 2nd Model U.S. issue. ”U.S.” on the butt. Grips have cartouches, left side dated 1876. Nice bore with just a little roughness. I would say an 8 out of 10. Action works perfectly. Some original blue remains on the frame and in protected areas. The metal is clean with little to no pitting or abuse. It has a nice even patina. The only abuse noted is where someone years ago used the butt to tap on something. It’s not bad. Please see picture. The grips are in nice condition with no chips breaks or cracks. Serial number 4426.
Comes with factory two page Smith & Wesson letter. The revolver was shipped on Oct. 12, 1876 to The National Armory, Springfield, MA.
These are getting hard to find in any condition. Here’s a chance to own the original that’s been well cared for over the last 141 years. The total contract number of these U.S. Schofield’s was 5,285. Most are lost to history.
No FFL Required.
