DWM Model 1923 American Eagle 7.65 mm Luger marked "Loaded" & "Safe" for A.F. Stoeger Arms
Description: This is a very rare Commercial Model 1923 American Eagle 7.65 mm Luger in excellent condition that retains 95% to 97% of its original rust blue. It was made for the A.F. Stoeger Arms Company in the US by DWM in Germany. This gun is one of a batch of less than 1000 manufactured by DWM for Stoeger to sell in the US. It is actually even rarer than that because only a subset of the less than 1000 pistols were marked “LOADED” and “SAFE” on the extractor and upper safety areas, respectively, instead of with the German words normally used (Geladen and Gesichert), and has a 4¾” barrel fitted by Stoeger. It is marked with the American Eagle crest on top of the breech along with “GERMANY” on the front of the frame under the serial number (1120) and on the right side of the barrel extension (receiver). It has “DWM” written in script on the top of the front toggle link. Additionally, “A.F. STOEGER INC / NEW YORK” is roll stamped on the right side of the barrel extension. Various parts of the gun are numbered in the commercial fashion, using the last two digits of the gun’s serial number, 20. All serial numbers match. It also has the Crown/N nitro firing proof on the barrel extension. It is fitted with a set of unnumbered, dark walnut checkered grips. The Luger comes with an original nickel-plated magazine whose wooden base is stamped “GERMANY”. Condition: The gun is in very good condition and retains about 95% to 97% of its original rust blue with some typical edge and high spot wear on the front frame rails, side plate hump and stock lug. The bore and internal parts and surfaces are in excellent condition. The various smaller parts retain 70% of their original straw color overall. The grips are in very good condition with distinct checkering and a minimum of handling marks, but with a small missing chip on the upper right corner of the left grip under the safety lever. The new 37th edition of the “Blue Book of Gun Values”, by S.P. Fjestad, gives an estimated value of $4,775 for this Luger (in 95% condition) with German "Geladen" and "Gesichert" (loaded and safe) markings. It then adds 50% for having “LOADED” and “SAFE” markings which makes the total Blue Book estimated value $7,163. I am offering you the opportunity to purchaser this rare Luger at a much better price. A USPS Money Order or a Cashier/Teller Check is my preferred method of receiving payment. Personal checks will be accepted, but will require 14 days after receipt of the check before shipping the gun to make sure the check clears. The gun will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail. All shipping costs (postage and insurance) will be in addition to the winningamount. I am a private collector with no sales tax required. No international shipments. I can only ship to Dealer or C&R FFL holders. SOLD Manufacturer: DWM Model: American Eagle, A.F.
