#4964 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x45COLT, 97XXX range (1883), VG bore
Description:
#4964 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x45COLT, 97XXX range (1883), VG bore (about a 6+ to 7 on a scale of 10) and VG action. The metal is decent for its age and about average for what is otherwise basically a “no-finish” gun with some scattered staining, light roughness, and minor pitting. The markings are faint in some places (such as the frame patent dates and frame serial number, which actually DOES match if you look closely enough. Apparently this was a full factory nickel finished revolver, but it is now basically a neutral grey patina with only FAINT traces here and there. The original wood grips show quite a bit of wear as well and have toe chips on both sides. However, it does have a lot of "Wild West cowboy charisma" and the overall look is what one usually wants to see on an old cowboy Colt that was well used but not seriously abused. There are a lot of photos to this desirable S/A , so if they all don’t load (there are about 15 in all), just email me and I will forward them to you by return email. This is a real opportunity to own a real piece of the Wild West in what was the most popular frontier cartridge handgun …and one of the fastest value appreciators in the antique gun field. About VG/VG+ as described. $3395
