Description:
This is a beautiful example of a military percussion pistol made by the well known and respected H. Aston firm. It is a U.S. model 1842, dated on the lock  1847. All of the  metal is bright with all stamped markings on the lock and barrel well preserved. The brass is  in excellent condition. The walnut stock is also  in excellent condition . There are two cartouches very visible on the left side of the stock. The initials "JH' and "P" appear at the r the hammer and the letter"H" at the top of the brass grip strap near the hammer. The action is very strong. It has the proper captive ramrod. The caliber is .54 with an 8 & 1/2" barrel. These pistols were made between 1845 and 1852 and saw service in our Civil War and in the war with Mexico.
