The hammer, barrel, captive ramrod and belthook are all in bright steel which has not been buffed to remove rust, discolorization etc. It has never been allowed to deteriorate to make such work necessary to restore its appearance. The armory name on the lock, the Model 1837 stamp on the tang near the lock, the proof marks on the support plate for the belt hook, the proof marks on the brass trigger guard and on the steel strap behind the trigger, and the mark and the anchor on the brass butt cap are all as sharp as when they were placed there at the armory. I believe this was the first model pistol issued to the French Navy. The action is strong. Hammer holds on full and half cock.. The wood has beautiful graining and is pretty much unmarked except for a minor repair made on the left side of the barrel tang. ( which is barely noticeable). There is a swivel lanyard ring in the butt cap.The action is strong . The bore is bright and clean. It is entirely possible that this pistol has never been fired. .60 caliber with a 6& 1/2' barrel and an overall length of about 12". The Anchor on the butt indicates it is a naval gun. This is an antique so no FFL is required. It can be sent directly to a new proud owner. Weapons in this condition have proven to be an excellent investment, appreciating nicely over time.
