1975 Colt Detective Special Revolver in .38 Spl. (3rd Issue)
*** MINTY!! ***
Description: This "3rd Issue" Colt Detective Special looks like it left the Colt factory last week. This beautiful example is serial number H50770, making its date of manufacture 1975. The original gloss blue finish is nearly pristine and rates an easy 98 to 99%. The only deductions that could be found are a very faint drag line around the cylinder, and the front face of the cylinder shows very faint flash halos around the chambers(pictured). As you can see in the pictures, this Detective Special is beautiful. The bore is minty and bright in the 2" barrel. The rifling still has sharp lands and grooves and there is no pitting, erosion, or defects of any kind. The cylinder bores are also minty and bright. The original factory checkered Walnut grips are in like-new condition and do not show any wear or handling marks. The checkering is still sharp and crisp, and the factory varnish is still glossy and 100% intact. The action on this Colt is 100% like the day it left the factory. The cylinder turns "in-time" and locks up tight with no play in it. The action works perfectly in double or single action modes of operation, and the trigger breaks cleanly with no grittiness. We acquired this Detective Special from the son of the original owner who bought it new in 1976. He told us that his dad had maybe fired two full cylinders thru it when he first bought it and the gun was put up afterwards. It stayed in a case in the bedside table for the last 40 plus years. In our opinion the story is accurate given the condition of this Colt. If you have been looking for a minty and clean Detective Special to add your collection as an investment, this example would be nearly impossible to improve upon!
