Antique ALLEN THURBER & CO. Pepperbox Revolver
Description: Antique ALLEN THURBER & CO. Pepperbox Revolver Gold Rush, Mexican American War, Civil War Here we present an antique Allen Thurber & Co. Bar Hammer Pepperbox Percussion Revolver, made circa 1847 in Worcester, Massachusetts. These were the first American double action revolvers, and they enjoyed even greater popularity than Sam Colt’s initial designs. The history that these handguns enjoyed over the years is astounding: the Seminole Wars, Gold Rush, Mexican War and American Civil War. They were also popular with Westward travelers. An early Allen Pepperbox was also the personal weapon of the “Lion of the Lord, Brigham Young, of the Latter-day Saints. These guns are true relics of American history. If it could speak, it could tell some stories. This size might have been carried on the belt, as seen in daguerreotypes from the period, especially Antebellum and during the American Civil War, though it could also fit in a jacket pocket. It features a 3-3/8 inch barrel cluster, capable of carrying 6 shots of .32 caliber ball. As befitted the times, the frame and nipple shield is nicely scroll engraved with a floral design. The metal surfaces of this piece are weathered with a dark patina. The engraving and barrel markings are faint. Serial numbers match. The grips are dark and smooth. Serial numbers match here as well. The bores are untouched. The action is strong. Here is a much used and weathered little revolver with a lot of history behind it. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3-3/8 inches. Caliber: .32 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $750 #5047 SOLD Antique: Yes |
