BIRMINGHAM Proof Engraved Double Action Six Shooter

Here we present an antique Pepperbox Percussion Revolver, made circa 1840 in Birmingham, England. This double action revolver was designed for maximum firepower for personal protection in 19th Century England. While most of the competition in the self-defense pistol market of the day were single shot pistols, this example would have given its user six shots of .34 caliber ball without having to cock the hammer manually. This pistol would have been a contemporary of the Ethan Allen Pepperboxes in the United States.

This specimen has a heavy, fluted barrel cluster, bearing Birmingham proofs in the flutes. The hammer, frame and trigger guard are nicely engraved. The double action trigger is very smooth. The overall condition is very good plus. The barrel still retains some original blue, with the balance of the gun wearing a smoky grey patina. The markings and engraving are clear. The bores are smooth and in very good condition. The action is excellent.
