#4957 Remington Model 1890 S/A, 5-3/4”x44/40 with fine bore
Description:
#4957 Remington Model 1890 S/A, 5-3/4”x44/40 with fine bore and action. This model is one of the most sought after of all Remington handguns, as there were only approx 2020 made between 1890 and 1897 and most of those were produced in the nickel finish. This, however, is a very decent specimen with some thin traces of original blue factory remaining and with the remainder being a smooth crisp thin grey-brown patina with very little wear. The grips would be near fine, too …if not for two initials on one side and “XI” on the other. The markings are about Fine and it does have the correct “Remington Arms Co.” address and 44C.F.W. frame markings. Mechanically it has a fine action and fine bore (about a 7-1/2 to 8 on a scale of 10). A tough gun to find in any condition and this is a VERY nice gun, about “VG++” or better. $4250.
