CIVIL WAR Antique MOORE’S Patent BELT Revolver
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique MOORE’S Patent BELT Revolver Scarce & Engraved Early Rimfire Revolver! Here we present an antique Engraved Moore’s Patent Firearms Co. Single Action Belt Revolver. These revolvers were made in Brooklyn, New York from 1861-1863 and number less than 8,000 in total. It is a very interesting revolver as this it is one of those revolvers that was direct violation of the patent by Rollin White and Smith & Wesson. Rollin White, charged with defending his own patent, took Moore’s Patent Firearms Co. to court and won, resulting in a very few of the later revolvers being stamped “MF’D FOR SMITH & WESSON”. The other significance of this pistol is that many of these are known to have been purchased by Union officers and enlisted men for use during the American Civil War. One of its advantages was its 7-shot capacity. It is unique in that the whole cylinder and barrel assembly cant to the right side for loading and unloading, a prelude to the swing-out cylinder! Mechanically, this revolver utilizes a push-button release that allows the barrel and cylinder shift to the right for loading and unloading. The cylinder is chambered for 7 shots of .32 rimfire and is fully bored through, violating the Smith & Wesson owned Rollin White Patent. The pistol also features full engraving on the brass frame from the factory. The overall condition is very good. Traces of original silver finish remain on the engraved brass frame. Traces of blue finish also remain on the iron parts. A very nice, dark patina makes up the balance. The markings are clear. The walnut grips are very nice and smooth. The bore is in good shape with nice rifling. The barrel assembly screw is a replacement, attaching to the frame. The action is excellent. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5 inches. Caliber: .32 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1000 #6187 SOLD Antique: Yes |
