CIVIL WAR-era Antique ETHAN ALLEN & CO 22 Revolver
Description: CIVIL WAR-era Antique ETHAN ALLEN & CO 22 Revolver Scarce Side Hammer Revolver with Only 1500 Made Here we present an antique Allen & Wheelock Side Hammer .22 Rimfire Revolver, made from 1858-1865. A total of 8 distinct “issues” or models can be found, and only about 1,500 were made, all models combined, making this a very interesting and affordable area for collectors. Production was almost certainly affected by the patent infringement that took place to make this piece. Smith & Wesson owned the rights to Rollin White’s infamous patent for a bored through cylinder, allowing the use of That averages out to less than 200 examples ever made for each issue. A more obvious attraction is the distinctive side-mounted hammer featured on all models. Little 7-shot revolvers like this were quite handy in their day. They could be concealed in a pocket or a purse very easily, and have just enough firepower to scare someone away or get away yourself. Little pocket pistols like this were not uncommonly purchased by soldiers heading off to the fighting in the Civil War. The most obvious visual distinction between this and other similar revolvers of this period is the side mounted hammer. The side of the barrel is marked “ETHAN ALLEN & CO. WORCESTER MASS” with the patent information underneath. Overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces still wear 85% of the original nickel finish, which has patinated with age. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The grips are very good. The bore is good. The action is nearly completely functional. The only issue is that the cylinder does not properly index. Own a scarce little Ethan Allen for yourself! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 2-3/4 inches. Caliber: .22 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $550 #5334 SOLD Antique: Yes |
