COLT MODEL 1861 NAVY REVOLVER
Description:
SALE PENDING - Civil War Colt Model 1861 Navy Revolver - Cal. .36 - 7 1/2" Bbl. - SN 19037 (1864) - all matching, including wedge. Bore is VG+ or better and is bright with sharp rifling - shows some roughness and a few areas of moderate pitting - action is excellent with perfect timing and lock-up. Metal is excellent overall - no rust, pits, or corrosion -excellent nipples and screws. Barrel and cylinder retain about 65% to 70% thinning blue - cylinder has a light but clear and visible cylinder scene - frame shows 20% + darkening case color and the loading lever has drifted to a dark patina - the brass guard and backstrap have a nice mellow tone
. Grips are excellent with good fit to frame and retain about 95% finish - the right grip shows a very nice small repair near the upper frame - shows use, but was well-maintained. A great example of a very popular and desirable Civil War revolver in perfect working order and in VG + to near Fine condition that will make a great addition to a Civil War collection - these 1861 Navy Colts are getting very hard to find in unaltered condition.
