1972 Colt 70 Series Gold Cup National Match w/ Original Box & Inserts/Tools MINTY!!!
SOLD
Description: This is a very minty early 70 Series Colt Gold Cup National Match that is complete with the original serial numbered box and all the original inserts. The serial number is 70N07148, making the date of manufacture 1972. The condition of this pistol is excellent with 99% of the original Colt factory blue finish remaining. It is our opinion that it has had at most a couple of magazines put thru it, or possibly unfired since it left the factory and has been in storage for decades. The bore in this pistol is minty and bright, with sharp rifling and no pitting or erosion. The original factory checkered walnut grips with gold Colt medallions are also in excellent condition and exceptionally beautiful. They are clean with no signs of wear or carry, and the checkering is still nice and crisp. This set of grips has some very attractive contrasting stripe running their length that you don't often see in factory grips. The factory Elliason target sights are in like new condition and all of the adjustments work flawlessly. This pistol demonstrated Colt's commitment to quality of workmanship, and their use of the best materials available to manufacture these National Match pistols during this time period. The slide to frame fitment is superb, and all of the small parts are perfectly fit and finished as well. The adjustable trigger breaks like glass, and working the slide by hand feels smooth and slick. This is a complete gun, and comes in it's original factory "Gold Cup" picture box that is serial numbered to this pistol. The original test target is dated March 9, 1972, and all 5 shots are in the X-ring. The oiled shipping paper, owner's manual, warranty card, "Handling the Handgun" pamphlet, Colt keychain screwdriver, and Allen wrench are all in excellent shape. We do not see many of these Gold Cup picture box guns for sale, and virtually never see them this complete and in such minty condition. This would be a phenomenal addition to any fine Colt collection, and one that would be nearly impossible to upgrade.
