Description:
#4960 Colt S/A, 4-3/4”x44WCF, 87XXX(1883). It has a VG bore, about a 6+ on a scale of 10, and a VG action, too. The metal is a smooth deep brown patina with VG markings …except for the etched “CFSS” barrel logo which “has gone the way of the wild goose”, as the saying goes, and the frame patent dates are weak toward the rearward portion. The original one-piece wood grips are in a bit better than average condition but do have a repair that can be seen in the photo showing the grip bottom. Nothing fancy here, it’s just a neat little cowboys “short barreled forty-four forty” as immortalized in the late Marty Robbins song, “Mr. Shorty”. Click on this link, ( youtube/watch?v=L0bcALLEgwI?) because the song is well worth listening to (at least in in MY opinion, anyway). About VG as described. $2895
