Description:
#4983 Colt S/A, 7-1/2”x45COLT, 33XXX range(1878), VG+/Fine bore, about an 8 on a scale of 10 and having a tight smooth action with all the clicks on the hammer. The crisp smooth metal is very fine with no appreciable pitting and just a thin dark grey-brown patina on the barrel, straps, cylinder, and the frame. Fine markings and having the standard wood grips which have medium wear to both the right and left sides and just the usual wear to rim edges. There looks to be a repaired crack along the backstrap on the left grip, but it is solid and looks to be the original wood. Correct “Bulls-Eye” ejector head and the correct captive 2nd variation ejector housing. A very decent and handsome late 1870s long-barreled Colt and it is getting ever harder to find pre-1880 manufactured Single Actions in this price range. VG++ $3550
