#4991 Colt D/A 7-1/2”x44WCF with VG+ bore, 5XXX range
Description:
#4991 Colt D/A 7-1/2”x44WCF with VG+ bore (about a 7 to 7+ on a scale of 10) and very good SA an DA action, 5XXX serial range and thus being made in 1881. Original factory blue has turned mostly to plum blue-brown with some flashes of brighter blue (being perhaps 10% in total) with the remainder being the smooth plum-brown metal. The “CFSS” etched panel is totally gone, but all other markings are very good. The standard hard rubber grips have about 15-20% wear and otherwise have no damage (see photos). The very often missing lanyard ring is intact. This is a VERY early 44CF marked gun in the 1878 model and very collectable for that reason alone, plus it is just a very, very decent big frame double action Colt in WELL above average condition. VG++. $2395
