Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver Built 1855 w/ 4" Barrel
Description:
Serial #106477, .31 cal., 4” octagon barrel with a very good bore that has mild pitting within the grooves.
This little 1855-made revolver has about 20-25% of the original blue remaining on the barrel with the balance having turned to a mild gray-brown patina streaked with some brighter gray along the exposed edges.
The cylinder and frame have an overall mottled gray color with some areas of mild pinprick pitting, mostly along the rear of the cylinder around the nipples.
Faint traces of original color case-hardening are still visible on the loading lever as well.
There are matching numbers on the frame, barrel cylinder, wedge, arbor, trigger guard, and grip strap.
The trigger guard and back strap have an overall dull yellow-ochre patina with some of the original silver still in place below the hammer and around the trigger guard bow.
The walnut grip has much of the original varnish remaining with light wear at the butt, and some scattered minor handling marks and blemishes.
The action is still tight and fully functional.
This is a very good-fine little '49 Pocket and would make a great addition to a collection.
