Colt Second-generation 1860 Army—not so NIB
Description:
The photo would seem to justify a New-in-Box condition. That is how it was represented to me . When I prepped it for display, I discovered that the nipple under the hammer was plugged with rust, as was the lower part of the chamber under the nipple. The seller refused to take the piece back, as I had violated their no-disassembly return policy. I removed all of the rust by soaking the chamber for two months in Kroil penetrating oil and then putting the cylinder in a sonic cleaner. This treatment loosened the nipple to finger tight, which allowed me to replace it. I am listing its condition as 99 percent per recommendation by Dennis Russell (author of the Second-Generation Colt Percussion Revolver Handbook and Price Guide.). The original nipple will be included.
