Description:
#4991 Colt D/A 1878, 7-1/2”x44WCF, 21XXX(1888), VG bore, good action that locks up good, but a little stiff and probably has a couple of new parts that could be honed or used until they wear in better. Full nickel finish with blued hammer, trigger, etc, about 60-70% coverage and 60% density of the nickel, no significant fire blue finish left on the hammer or trigger, and just the faintest traces of nickel left on the cylinder. The hard rubber grips have no chips, but do have about 20-30% wear to the right side. Markings are good, and it has “8014” stamped on the lower left front of the frame, reason totally unknown to me, but probably some rack number identification. It’s getting tough to find these pre-1890 Colts with more than half the finish remaining. VG++ to Fine. $2150
