#4992 Colt 1878 D/A, 7-1/2”x45COLT, 12xxx range (1884)
Description:
#4992 Colt 1878 D/A, 7-1/2”x45COLT, 12xxx range (1884), fine action and bore, about an 8 on a scale of 10. Mechanically working fine on both S/A and D/A modes. The exterior has about 40-50% coverage of a very thin 20% density plum blue-brown patina, mostly just dulling from handling , and may have been “helped” a little by fogging with Cold Blue, but it does look to have good trace amounts of original blue, as well. Grips are fine, markings are fine, the often missing lanyard ring is intact, and overall this is a VERY decent and desirable early double action that should clean even better with just some light cleaning. Strange how these big Colt D/As are still lagging in price behind the S/As when both are in the same age range and overall condition, because if this revolver was a Single Action, it would be double this price. About VG++ as described. $1650
