Colt New Service Model of 1917 Military
Description:
For sale is a Colt New Service Model of 1917 in .45 ACP that was shipped out in the 600 gun shipment to the US Ordnance Depot at Camp Grant in 1918.
Its original factory brushed finish has wear and slight thinning commensurate with a 99 year old gun, as well as spots of oxidation. The original perpendicular brush pattern beneath the front sight is very prevalent on both sides. The barrel was first polished lengthwise, with the final polish being perpendicular, or around the barrel. This didn't allow the polishing wheel to get up next to the sight blade, leaving the "feathering". The polishing was done on large wood wheels faced with leather with an abrasive glued to the leather. The United States Property stamp and all other markings, including the serial number are crisp.
The original stocks are beautiful. Please view the photos here for the purpose of evaluating the condition for yourself. Included in the sale is the factory letter. This item qualifies as a C&R.
