COMMERCIAL VERSION OF THE RARE 1905 USMC .38 SPECIAL DA REVOLVER
Description: ONE OF THE LOWEST PRODUCTION COLT REVOLVERS EVER MADE! THIS IS THE 1905 CIVILIAN OR COMMERCIAL VERSION OF THE RARE 1905 USMC .38 SPECIAL DA REVOLVER! There is a lot of misinformation on these with some errors in print. New info from the Colt archives states that those revolvers in the 10000 serial range were commercial revolvers and the USMC contract guns were numbered 1-812. Apparently 926 of these guns were made leaving about 114 as commercial models. This one is number 107XX and is correct in every way, including the original round butt checkered walnut grips unique to this model (when these are missing or changed, finding originals is impossible), correct plugged lanyard swivel hole- all seem to have had this done exactly as this one is, overall fine condition with a gray stripe down each side of the barrel and the balance good blue, exc. markings, fine cylinder blue with edge wear and some thinning only, frame shows good blue with normal edge wear and thinning mostly on the right side, grip straps gray with good blue on the butt and around trigger guard, good fire blue on trigger sides and hammer back, grips show light handling with NO chips or cracks, bright bore with some scattered very surface pitting- minor, unaltered front sight, many of the best Colt collections don't have one of these!
