NEAR NEW COLT NEW SERVICE .44 RUSSIAN & SPECIAL REVOLVER WITH ORIG. SANDERSON GRIPS & FACTORY LETTER. CA. 1931.
Description:
NEAR NEW COLT NEW SERVICE .44 RUSSIAN & SPECIAL REVOLVER WITH ORIG. SANDERSON GRIPS & FACTORY LETTER. CA. 1931. 5 ½” barrel factory stamped “NEW SERVICE/RUSSIAN AND/S&W SPECIAL/44” on the left side. Very limited production and considered rare. 100% original and looks unfired. 99% plus original blue with no wear at all. Small sliver of blue faded on cylinder with no metal loss. One very small spot of dark flaking on the cylinder which is barely noticeable. Special order checkered trigger and special order Sanderson(Lew Sanderson) walnut checkered grips(tiny repaired hairline) which are often seen on the New Services and large frame S&W revolvers. Looks like it was in it’s shipping box until recently. With very interesting factory letter stating that it was shipped July 16, 1931 to Kruse Hardware, Cincinnati, Ohio in a one gun shipment, but that it was sold to Bolles, Brendamour Co. also of Cincinnati. Letter goes to stating it was returned in August, 1931 and subsequently re-shipped on Mar. 15, 1932 to Simon Atlas, New York City in a one gun shipment as well.
