Colt saa "etched panel" 44-40 cal. with 7.5" barrel. Comes with Colt factory letter, shipped in 1879 to St. Louis MO. Has original walnut stocks that fit perfect and a well worn but readable panel.
Known as the" Frontier Six Shooter" which Colts acid etched on the left side of the bbl., usually worn off, so this is a greart prize for collectors. This being an early example of the so-called "etched panel" as collectors have deemed them, makes it even more desirable. Few early EP's exist from this early period 52xxx range,very close to a O,K. corral gun 51xxx range of Ike Canton. or Frank Mclaury's gun. also a 44 EP. Condition is nice for its age, with a gray/brown patina. Good bore and action.
